Real battle begins for La Salle

After failing to end the elimination round at the top, reigning champion De La Salle University has to start all over again as part of its preparation in the semifinals of the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.

With an 11-3 win-loss card, the Lady Spikers ended up behind bitter rival Ateneo de Manila in the preliminaries.

But the Lady Spikers vowed to rise when it mattered the most.

Armed with a twice-to-beat bonus, La Salle will take on third seed University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the Final Four this Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Lady Spikers must oust the Tigresses to keep their chances in defending their crown in this prestigious collegiate battle.

Real battle

La Salle has completely moved forward.

Seasoned coach Ramil De Jesus, for one, said they would be bracing for a full-blown war when they face the Tigresses in the Final Four.

He knows that it is when the real battle begins.

“Ang importante naman kasing game is ‘yung semis. Doon naman nagsa-start talaga ang totoong laban, hindi naman dito (eliminations).”

“Sa April 22 ang start ng totoong bakbakan. Kailangan doon ka na huwag magpapatalo.”

On one hand, the Lady Spikers shouldn’t look back from the rainy days as De Jesus is expecting all of them to deliver in this very important match.

“Lahat gagawin namin para sa game na ‘yun.”

Enough for all the dramas.

These Lady Spikers vowed to sharpen their arrows and shoot their opponent down to stay alive.
