Generika-Ayala team captain Gen Casugod lived above her pre-tournament billing as she tallied a career-high 25 points in a five-set victory over Sta. Lucia in the Belo Philippine Superliga (PSL) Invitational Conference Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Center.
It was a job well done.
The Lifesavers crawled their way back to survive from the young and developing Lady Realtors, 25-19, 23-25, 25-27, 25-18, 15-12.
With such important victory, the Lifesavers are in a perfect position to come up with a fourth-place finish.
Generika-Ayala head coach Francis Vicente was surprised when he heard about his captain’s output.
”Wow, ngayon ko lang nalaman ‘yun ah.”
He said he never doubted Casugod, knowing that she’s also capable of delivering monster numbers.
And as a testament of his faith on her, Vicente picked Casugod to be part of the national pool that will see action in the AVC Asian Senior Women’s Championship and the 29th Southeast Asian Games.
”Twenty five? She can do 30 (points).
Casugod humbly echoed Vicente’s statement.
”Actually, oo (I can surpass that output).”
She, however, quickly emphasized that it wasn’t a cakewalk as she had to do some adjustments, especially when they were behind the Lady Realtors.
Casugod is finally shining.
She’ll be a star in no time.
